Woodridge State School is a special kind of place where children, parents/carers and staff work together to support each other in learning and teaching. With between thirty (30) to forty (40) different cultures and students with special needs, our school has an inclusive approach which focuses on individual needs and learning styles which are catered for in whole class, shared small group and individual ways.
This school is a proud member of the National Partnerships Schools, where personalised learning and achievement of negotiated outcomes are major goals. Woodridge State School’s 2009 Showcase State Award for Inclusive Education celebrates the sound foundation for personalised learning provided by the school’s dedicated staff.
Parents and carers are urged to communicate with staff in an open and positive way so that we can all work together to achieve improved learning outcomes for our children. We do not blame, we accept where the current level of achievement might be and work along side students and parents/carers to progress and challenge learning in a happy and mutually satisfying way. Each person is encouraged to engage in learning in a clever, skilful and creative manner.
Steeped in history, Woodridge State School is one of the popular school in the Woodridge area. Our aim is clear and present in all aspects of the school. Respect, Compassion and Resilience are some of the qualities demonstrated towards the personal attributes we strive to gain and display in our community.
We endeavour to celebrate each other’s uniqueness by providing opportunity for all and to develop a culture that identifies that the journey towards excellence is often paved with trial and error, risk taking, learning from mistakes, flexibility and adaptability. We believe that encouraging students to take ownership of the learning is critical in achieving the best learning outcomes and that implicit in this concept is that students learn their own areas of strength and areas of development, through useful and explicit feedback.
